The Santa Margarita Groundwater Agency (Agency) is continuing a state-mandated Periodic Evaluation of its November 2021 Groundwater Sustainability Plan (GSP) for the Santa Margarita Groundwater Basin (Basin). At the Agency's February 26, 2026 meeting, the Board voted to amend the GSP and appointed an ad hoc committee to lead the process. The Agency's 2026 Board Meetings (May 28, August 27, and October 22) provide opportunities for the public to learn about the amendment process, participate, and provide comments. At the May 28 meeting, the Board will receive an update from the ad hoc committee on considerations for revising the Basin's monitoring network, sustainable management criteria definitions, projects and management actions, and other GSP implementation activities.
